Error 59 when updating Sonos

Error 59 occurs when a Sonos product experiences an error writing to a file during the update process.

Some older Sonos products are more likely to experience Error 59 when updating to software version 15.6 or higher. These products are:

  • Boost
  • Connect
  • Connect:Amp
  • Play:1
  • Play:3
  • Sub (Gen 1)
  • Sub (Gen 2)

Wire and reset your Sonos product

To solve Error 59, follow the steps below.

  1. Connect the affected Sonos product to your network using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Reset the Sonos product back to its factory settings.
  3. Once the reset is complete, add your Sonos product back to your system.
  4. Retry the update to finish the update process.
