Local Music Library Grouping and Sorting
iOS Sonos App users are able to employ the following options to organize how their local music library content is grouped and sorted for their preferred browsing experience:
- Group albums by “iTunes compilations”, “Album Artist”, or “Do not group compilations”
- Sort folders by “Song Name”, “Song Number”, or “File Name”
Grouping Albums
Sonos app for iOS
- Go to the Settings menu and select Music Library.
- Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select Group Albums by.
- Select the preferred grouping option.
The Grouping Albums feature is dependent on track metadata. The most relevant metadata to ensure a reliable grouping experience include: Artist or Contributing Artist, Album Artist, Album, and iTunes Compilation flag.
In most cases, a music file that is missing a metadata tag will not appear in the Sonos app where it’s supposed to. You’ll need a media library management tool to view and edit the metadata on your music files. After making any changes to metadata, make sure you update the music library index.
