Unable to complete architectural speaker detection

This article explains causes and common fixes for an error message that can appear while attempting to Trueplay architectural Sonance speakers.

Mismatched speakers

Ensure that you’re connecting the same type of speaker to your Sonos Amp. For the detection process to work, in-ceiling and in-wall speakers can’t be connected to the same Amp. After confirming the connection, try the detection process again.

In-wall volume control

When using in-wall volume controls, be sure to set the control to 100% before attempting the detection process. If the issue continues, bypass the in-wall volume control by connecting your architectural speakers directly to the Amp to complete Trueplay tuning. Once setup, reconnect and adjust the in-wall volume controls and the Trueplay settings will remain saved.

Speaker selector switch

When using a speaker selector switch, bypass the switch by connecting your architectural speakers directly to the Amp to complete Trueplay tuning. Once setup, reconnect the speaker selector switch and the Trueplay settings will remain saved.
