Use Siri to control Sonos speakers

This article covers how to add AirPlay-compatible Sonos products to the Apple Home app, allowing you to use Siri on your iOS device to play and control Apple Music on Sonos. Note that this will not add Siri to a voice-enabled Sonos product or let you control them directly within the Apple Home app.

Add Sonos to the Apple Home app

  1. Open the Apple Home app on your iOS device.
  2. Tap the + in the top right corner.
  3. Tap Add Accessory.
  4. Tap I Don’t Have a Code or Cannot Scan.
  5. Tap the product you want to add.
  6. Pick the same room name used in the Sonos app.

Example commands

Hey Siri, play some hip-hop in the kitchen.
Hey Siri, turn it up in the living room.
Hey Siri, play Apple Music 1 radio in the bedroom.
Hey Siri, play some jazz in the living room and kitchen.

Important note on room names

If you rename your Sonos speaker in the Sonos app, you will also need to make the same change in the Apple Home app. See our article Sonos speaker names change on their own for more info.
