Make dialogue easier to hear with Speech Enhancement
When playing TV audio with a Sonos home theater speaker, you can turn on Speech Enhancement to boost the audio frequencies associated with the human voice. Turning this feature on will make dialogue easier to hear.
Before following the steps below, turn on your TV and make sure TV audio is playing through your Sonos home theater speaker.
Sonos app
iOS or Android
- Open the System view by selecting your system’s name at the top-left of the screen.
- Select your Sonos home theater speaker to bring up the Now Playing screen.
- Select the Speech Enhancement button to toggle Speech Enhancement on or off.
Adjust speech enhancement settings with Arc Ultra
If you’re using an Arc Ultra, you can adjust your preferred level of speech enhancement.
- Go to the Settings menu and select your Arc Ultra from the system list.
- Under Home Theater, select Speech Enhancement.
- Set your desired level by selecting Low, Medium, or High.
When speech enhancement is enabled, you’ll see your selected level displayed on the Now Playing screen.

- In the Rooms tab, select your home theater speaker.
- Open the Now Playing screen by selecting the Now Playing bar at the bottom.
Select the Speech Enhancement icon to toggle Speech Enhancement on or off.
macOS or Windows
- In the Rooms pane, select your home theater speaker.
- In the Now Playing section, click the Speech Enhancement icon to toggle Speech Enhancement on or off.
