Set up your Sonos Play
This article will guide you through setting up your Sonos Play on your WiFi network. You can find more information on product features and specs on Play’s product page.
When you unbox your Play for the first time, you can connect it to your Bluetooth device and start listening to audio right away. In order to connect Play to your WiFi network and group it with other Sonos products, you’ll need to set it up using the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
Before you start
- Turn on your Sonos Play by pressing the Power button on the back, plugging it in to power via USB-C cable, or setting it on the provided charging base. Play will show a blinking green light when it's ready to be set up.
- Download the Sonos app for iOS or Android. The app will guide you through the set up process.
Set up a new Sonos system with Play
- Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
- Under Get started with setup, set up a new system by selecting Speaker or component, then create or sign in to your Sonos account.
- Select Add on the pop-up showing your Play.
- Follow the steps in the app to set up your Play and add your content services.
Add Play to your existing Sonos system
- Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
- Go to the Settings menu and select Add Speaker or Component.
- Follow the steps in the app to add Play to your Sonos system.

- Play features a USB-C port on the back which can be used with the Sonos Line-In Adapter or the Sonos Combo Adapter. Both adapters allow you to connect a 3.5mm audio cable to your Play for audio line-in.
