Set up TrueCinema for Sonos Ace

TrueCinema uses Sonos Ace and a compatible Sonos soundbar to create a more realistic and immersive home theater audio experience. TrueCinema captures the acoustics of a room, and automatically adjusts the binaural rendering on Sonos Ace to allow users to enjoy virtual surround sound audio.

Requirements

You can use the Sonos app for iOS or Android to set up TrueCinema with your Sonos Ace. WiFi must be enabled on the home theater speaker in order for it to work with TrueCinema.

TV Audio Swap must be configured on a supported home theater speaker before TrueCinema can be enabled.

Supported home theater speakers

You can use TrueCinema with the following home theater speakers:

  • Arc
  • Arc SL
  • Arc Ultra
  • Beam (Gen 1)
  • Beam (Gen 2)
  • Ray

Set up TrueCinema

To set up TrueCinema, Sonos Ace must already be set up in the Sonos app and connected to your iOS or Android device. TV Audio Swap must be configured prior to setting up TrueCinema.

  1. Go to the Settings menu and select your Sonos Ace in the Headphones section.
  2. Under TV Audio Swap, select TrueCinema.
  3. Select the home theater speaker you’d like to use, then follow the instructions in the app to complete the setup process.

Tips to ensure good TrueCinema tuning

Minimize noise: Do your best to minimize noise during TrueCinema tuning. Sounds such as talking, footsteps, and loud appliances may cause problems during tuning. Be sure not to block or touch the Sonos Ace microphone.

Get comfortable: For best results, try to sit in your typical TV-watching seat during TrueCinema tuning. Sonos Ace must be worn during the entire tuning process.

Enable or disable TrueCinema

Once TrueCinema has been set up, it can be enabled or disabled using the Sonos app for iOS or Android.

  1. Go to the Settings menu and select your Sonos Ace in the Headphones section.
  2. Under TV Audio Swap, select TrueCinema.
  3. TrueCinema can be toggled on or off for any room where it has been enabled.
