Create a stereo pair

Sonos speakers of the same model can be bonded together as a single room in the Sonos app, providing a wider stereo experience. This article will show you how to create a stereo pair with your speakers.

Before you start

  • Only Sonos speakers of the same model can be stereo paired.
  • When you first set up two Sonos speakers of the same model, you’ll see an option to create a stereo pair. Otherwise, you can follow the steps below to pair two products that have been already added to your system.
  • When placing your speakers for a stereo pair, we recommend spacing them 8 to 10 feet apart. Your favorite listening position should be 8 to 12 feet from the paired speakers—less distance increases bass, more distance improves stereo imaging.

Sonos app for iOS or Android

  1. Go to the Settings menu.
  2. Under My System, select one of the speakers you’d like to use in your stereo pair.
  3. Select Set Up Stereo Pair and follow the in-app instructions.

Sonos S1 Controller app for iOS or Android

  2. Under Products, select one of the speakers you’d like to use in your stereo pair.
