Using Sonos with unsupported operating systems
This article provides information about the in-app message: “The OS on this mobile device is no longer supported.”
If you use Sonos on one of the OS versions listed below, your Sonos app will not receive updates but can still be used to control commonly used features of Sonos.
Sonos S2 app
- iOS 14 and 15
- iPadOS 14 and 15
- Android 7
- Fire OS 6
- Windows 7
Sonos S1 app
- iOS 10 and 11
- Android 5, 6, and 7*
- Fire OS 5 and 6
If your OS is older than these versions, you will not be able to control Sonos from that device, and will need to update the OS or use a different device with a supported OS. For a list of fully supported OS versions, see our system requirements article.
Check your device’s OS version
The following links have information on how to check your device’s OS version and how to update to a Sonos compatible version, if your device supports it.
Features that are unavailable in limited functionality
This table lists the features and settings that are not available in the Sonos S2 app or the Sonos S1 Controller when running one of the unsupported operating systems listed above.
*The Sonos S1 app for Android 5 and 6 is no longer available in the Google Play Store. The app will still work with Sonos if it was previously downloaded to your device.
