Adjust Connection Security settings

Connection Security settings allow you to manage how third-party integrations and guests interact with your Sonos system. These settings provide additional layers of security and control.

By default, all integrations and access privileges will continue to function exactly as they do today, ensuring no immediate changes to your user experience. Please note that altering these default settings could interrupt the functionality of your integrations.

Connection Security settings will allow or disallow the following:

  • Authentication: This applies to third-party integrations that use Sonos cloud and Local Area Network (LAN) APIs, requiring them to authenticate. This includes control integrations from partners like Control4 and Lutron, as well as Direct Control integrations and connectivity via AirPlay.

The default setting for Authentication is OFF.

  • UPnP: This pertains to integrations that utilize the unsupported UPnP protocol. Note that turning this setting off will also prevent the Sonos app for macOS and Windows from controlling your system.

The default setting for UPnP is ON.

  • Guest access: This controls whether devices connected to the same WiFi network as your Sonos system can control playback, volume, and grouping as guests without access to administrative features.

The default setting for Guest Access is ON.

  3. Toggle the setting on or off. Note that some functionality may be interrupted if the setting is changed from the default.
