Update your Sonos music library

Whenever you make changes to your music library like downloading or removing music, creating new playlists, or adjusting album artwork or metadata, you will need to update the music library index on Sonos before these changes will appear in your Sonos app. See our article on adding your music library if you have not yet added your library to Sonos.

  1. Go to the Settings menu and select Manage next to your system.
    1. If using the Sonos S1 Controller app, go to the Settings tab and select System.
  2. Select Music Library.
  3. Select Update Music Index Now.

Sonos app for macOS or Windows

  1. From the Manage menu, click Update Music Library Now.
  2. Click Yes to confirm.

Depending on the size of your library, the music index may take several minutes to update.

Schedule automatic updates to your music library

If you make changes to your music library often, you can schedule automatic index updates. Once setup, Sonos will scan your library for changes once a day at a specified time.

Sonos app macOS or Windows

  1. From the Manage menu, click Music Library Settings.
  2. Click the Advanced tab and check Update content every day at.
  3. Choose the desired time for the update to occur.

Note that the computer or NAS drive where your library is stored must be powered on and awake at the specified time for the index update to be successful.
