Enable or disable TV Autoplay

The TV Autoplay feature allows for Sonos home theater products to automatically start playing TV content when the television is turned on.

Toggle TV Autoplay

  1. Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
  2. Navigate to Settings, and select the appropriate Room.
  3. Under Home Theater, toggle TV Autoplay on or off.

Setting

Description

Enabled

The Sonos Home Theater product connected to the TV (via Optical or HDMI) will start playing TV audio when the TV is turned on and the Sonos product detects an audio signal. Once enabled, TV Autoplay will continue to function even if a network connection is lost.

Disabled

The Sonos Home Theater product connected to the TV (via Optical or HDMI) will ignore the TV audio signal. Users will need to manually choose TV audio under "Your Sources" on the Sonos App, or from Browse > TV within the S1 app.

Ungroup on Autoplay

Ungroup on Autoplay automatically separates your Home Theater product from other rooms when it detects TV audio. Other rooms continue playing their music independently. TV Autoplay must be enabled to access this setting.

  1. Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
  2. Navigate to Settings, and select the appropriate Room.
  3. Under Home Theater, toggle Ungroup on Autoplay on or off.

Setting

Description

Enabled

The Sonos Home Theater product connected to the TV (via Optical or HDMI) will ungroup itself from other rooms in the app when it detects a TV audio signal. Rooms in the previous group will continue to play music (or remain silent) when the Home Theater product ungroups.

Disabled

The Sonos Home Theater product connected to the TV (via Optical or HDMI) will ignore the TV audio signal. The Home Theater product will continue to play music (or remain silent) as a result.
