Playing Spotify Lossless audio on Sonos

Spotify Lossless allows Spotify Premium users to stream supported audio in up to 24-bit/44.1 kHZ FLAC. You can enjoy Spotify Lossless when using the Sonos app or playing via Spotify Connect.

Requirements

Spotify Lossless requires a Spotify Premium account.

Spotify Lossless playback on Sonos requires the Sonos app for iOS or Android, updated to version 80.30.31 or greater. Sonos products must be updated to version 91.0-70011 or greater.

Enabling Spotify Lossless

Before Spotify Lossless content can be played on Sonos, it must be enabled in the Spotify app. To enable:

1. Open the Spotify app for iOS or Android.
2. Select the Profile icon in the top left.
3. Select Settings & Privacy, then select Media Quality.
4. Select where to enable lossless audio. You can choose whether to play lossless content over WiFi, cellular, on downloaded tracks, or all of the above.

After enabling lossless content in the Spotify app, you'll also need to enable it on at least one Sonos product. To enable:

1. Open the Spotify app for iOS or Android.
2. Begin playing any lossless audio track.
3. Tap the connect icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
4. Select a Sonos product to play to.
5. Tap the connect icon once more.
6. Select the more icon (>) next to the Sonos room name.
7. Tap Change Quality Settings, and select Lossless.

Selecting lossless quality for one Sonos product will automatically enable it for any other Sonos products in the household. If you change the audio quality later, it will similarly change for all Sonos products.

Playing Spotify Lossless audio

Once Spotify Lossless has been enabled per the above steps, you can play lossless audio to Sonos via the Sonos app or Spotify Connect.

Sonos app for iOS or Android

1. Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
2. Begin playing Spotify content via browse or search.
3. Tap the Now Playing bar to expand. A "Lossless" badge will appear below the track title when playing lossless content.

Spotify app for iOS or Android

1. Open the Spotify app for iOS or Android.
2. Begin playing any lossless audio track.
3. Tap the connect icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
4. Select a Sonos product to play to. A "Lossless" badge will appear below the playback controls when playing lossless content.
