Sonos Beta Programs

Sonos Beta programs give you the chance to try out new software, hardware, and music services before they’re officially available. This also helps us drive improvements to the Sonos experience by giving us the opportunity to learn from your insights and hear about what’s working and what’s not.

Sign up to be a Beta tester

You can apply to be a Sonos Beta tester by using the Sonos app or the Sonos website. We don’t always have active programs running and not all testers will be assigned to a particular program so you may not hear from us right away.

Using the Sonos app for iOS or Android:

  1. From the  Settings tab, tap Support (Help & Tips if using the Sonos S1 Controller) > Beta Program.
  2. Log in to your Sonos account.
  3. Review the information, enter your email address, and tap I Agree.

Using the Sonos website:

  1. Go to www.sonos.com, click the menu in the top left and click Sign In.
  2. Sign in to your Sonos account.
  3. Click on Beta.
  4. Review the information, enter your email address, and click I Agree.

Update your Sonos system

If you are chosen to participate in a Sonos Beta Program, you’ll be asked to update your Sonos system as new software versions become available to test. When a software update is available, a prompt will appear in the Sonos app on all your mobile devices and your Mac and/or PC. Select Update to start the update process. To manually check for updates, see our article on updating your Sonos speakers.

Submit Beta feedback

When you have feedback or run into any issues during testing, you can let us know via the Beta Community.

You can also submit feedback from within the Sonos app by taking a screenshot. Once the screenshot is taken, you’ll see a popup asking if you’d like to submit feedback to Sonos. Tap Yes to be redirected to the beta community where you can sign in and provide your feedback.

Leave the Beta Community

Leave a Beta Test

  1. Log in to your Beta Community account.
  2. On the Community Home page, choose the beta program that you would like to leave.
  3. Click the Contact Us option in the Feedback section near the top of the page.
  4. Under “What can we help you with?” choose Opt out of this beta program. Fill out the survey and click Submit.

You will receive a confirmation acknowledging your request to leave. You will then be removed from the Beta Test within two business days and receive another confirmation email.

Once you have been removed from the Beta Test you will need to revert your Sonos app and system to the most recent, publicly available version.

  1. Uninstall the Beta version of the Sonos app from your mobile device.
  2. Open the app store for your device and download the Sonos app. Be sure to do this on every device you used to test Sonos.
  3. Update your Sonos system.

Leave the Beta Community

Follow these steps if you want to completely be removed from the Beta Community and any active Beta Tests that you are participating in. Your account information will then be removed in compliance with GDPR.

  1. Log in to your Beta Community account.
  2. Click your profile icon at the top right, then choose Leave Beta Community.
  3. Fill out the survey and click Submit.

You will receive a confirmation acknowledging your request to leave. You will then be removed from the Beta Community and any active Beta Tests within two business days and receive another confirmation email.

If you were participating in any active Beta Tests, make sure you revert your Sonos app and system to the most recent, publicly available version.

  1. Uninstall the Beta version of the Sonos app from your mobile device.
  2. Open the app store for your device and download the Sonos app. Be sure to do this on every device you used to test Sonos.
  3. Update your Sonos system.
