Supported WiFi modes and security standards for Sonos products


Products that can connect to 2.4GHz WiFi networks



802.11b and 802.11g

All Sonos products can connect to wireless routers or access points that support 802.11b/g WiFi over 2.4GHz. Additionally, all Sonos products can connect to WiFi networks that use WPA1 and WPA2 Personal security standards, as well as unsecured WiFi networks.

Sonos products running S1 software are limited to 802.11b/g connections over 2.4GHz with WPA1 or WPA2 security. Sonos products running S2 software support additional WiFi modes and security standards listed below.


802.11n

When running Sonos S2 software, the following products can also connect to 2.4GHz 802.11n networks.

Products that can connect to 5GHz WiFi networks

When running Sonos S2 software, the following products can connect to a router or access point using these additional WiFi modes. All listed products can also connect via 2.4GHz for the listed mode, if available.
