Playing Apple Music lossless audio on Sonos

Apple Music allows users with an active Apple Music subscription to stream supported lossless audio in up to 24-bit/192 kHZ FLAC. You can enjoy lossless Apple Music when using the Sonos app.

Requirements

Lossless content from Apple Music requires an active Apple Music subscription.

Apple Music lossless playback on Sonos requires the Sonos app for iOS or Android. Ensure that the app is up to date for the best user experience.
Apple Music lossless is not supported on the S1 controller app or S1 only products.

Enable lossless on Apple Music for iOS or Android

Disable Spatial Audio on Sonos

Before lossless Apple Music content can be played on Sonos, Spatial Music will need to be disabled in the Sonos app.

1. Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
2. Navigate to Settings, and select the appropriate Room.
3. Under Sound, toggle Spatial Music off.
   

Once completed, lossless audio must also be enabled in the Apple Music app for iOS or Android. To enable, follow the steps below.

Enable lossless on iOS

1. Open the Apple Music app for iOS.
2. Select the Settings icon, then select Apps.
3. Select Music.
4. Choose Lossless Audio to turn it on or off. From here you can select the audio quality for streaming and downloading audio.
   1. Lossless for a maximum resolution of 24-bit/48 kHz
   2. Hi-Res lossless for a maximum resolution of 24-bit/192 kHz
      
      

Enable lossless on Android

1. Open the Apple Music app for Android.
2. Select the More button.
3. Select Settings, then choose Audio Quality.
4. Select Lossless to turn it on or off. From here, you can adjust the audio quality for streaming and downloading audio.
   1. Lossless for a maximum resolution of 24-bit/48 kHz.
   2. Hi-Res lossless for a maximum resolution of 24-bit/192 kHz.
      

Playing Apple Music lossless audio

Once Apple Music Lossless audio has been enabled per the above steps, you can play lossless audio to Sonos via the Sonos app.

Sonos app for iOS or Android

1. Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
2. Begin playing Apple Music content via browse or search.
3. Tap the Now Playing bar to expand. A "Lossless" badge will appear below the track title when playing lossless content.
