Set up your Sonos Sub Mini

This article will guide you through setting up your Sonos Sub Mini. You can find more information on product features and specs on Sub Mini's product page.

Before you start 

  • Place your Sub Mini in your desired location and connect it to power. Make sure at least one side of the slot is free from obstruction. If you place it vertically against a wall, don’t block the front opening.
  • Sub Mini cannot be added to unamplified or portable Sonos products. See all Sonos products that support Sub Mini.
  • If you are setting up a Sonos home theater speaker and Sub Mini at the same time, set up the home theater speaker first. The app will guide you through adding your Sub Mini during the setup process.
  • If you're adding a Sub Mini to a Sonos speaker that is already set up, follow the steps below.

Add a Sub Mini

  1. Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
  2. Go to the Settings menu.
  3. Under My System, select the room you would like to add your Sub Mini to.
  4. Select Connect Sub.
  5. Follow the prompts to add the Sub Mini to your Sonos system.

Problems during setup?

Change Sub Mini's audio settings

  1. Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
  2. Go to the  Settings menu.
  3. Under My System, select the room that your Sub Mini is in.
  4. Under Sound, select Sub Audio.

You can adjust the settings listed below.




Tap the switch to toggle the Sub Mini's audio on or off.

Sub Level

Use the slider to increase or decrease the volume of the Sub Mini's audio.

Phase Control

Choose 0° or 180° to flip the phase of the Sub Mini's audio. Adjust this setting if you do not hear enough bass in your usual listening position.

Phase Control is set when you Trueplay a room with a Sub Mini and can’t be changed while Trueplay tuning is enabled.


Tap this to reset all Sub Mini audio settings to their default values.
