Remove a Bridge from your Sonos system

  • Mobile device required

If you have Sonos Bridge wired to your router, we recommend removing it from your system using one of the options below.

Note that the Sonos Bridge is not compatible with Sonos S2. Before updating to Sonos S2, your Bridge must be removed using one of the methods below.

1 Use the Bridge removal tool

The Bridge removal tool will determine if your Sonos products can reliably connect to your Wi-Fi network or if you should replace your Bridge with a different wired Sonos product.

  1. Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
  2. From the  Settings tab, tap System.
  3. Tap Bridge Removal in the Tools section at the bottom.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to go through the Bridge removal process.

The Bridge removal tool is not available in all regions. If you don’t see the Bridge removal tool in your app, follow the steps for one of the other options below instead.

2 Connect your Sonos system to your Wi-Fi network

Instead of wiring a Bridge to the router, your Sonos products can connect directly to the router’s Wi-Fi network. This is our recommended solution if you have a strong and consistent Wi-Fi signal throughout your home.

  1. Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
  2. From the  Settings tab, tap System > Network > Wireless Setup.
  3. Follow the steps in the app to connect your Sonos system to your Wi-Fi network.
  4. Disconnect your Bridge from the router after the app says that your Sonos system has successfully connected.
  5. Give your Sonos products a few minutes to connect to your network, then check and make sure they're all showing up under the  System tab of your Sonos app.

If any Sonos products are missing, follow the steps in our article about products missing from the Sonos app.

3 Wire one of your other Sonos products to the router

When one of your other Sonos products is wired to the router, it provides a dedicated wireless network that the rest of your Sonos system can use, just like the Bridge.

  1. Make sure that the Sonos product you’re using has already been set up as part of your Sonos system.
  2. Disconnect your Bridge from power and Ethernet.
  3. Connect your other Sonos product to your router via Ethernet, then plug it into power.
  4. Allow your Sonos product to boot up. The status light will turn solid white when it is powered on and connected.

Like the Bridge, your Sonos product must remain wired to the router at all times for your system to work. We do not recommend using the Sub or surround speakers as the wired products.
