Charging Sonos Move 2

This article provides information on how to charge your Move 2 with the charging base or a USB-C cable.

Connect Move 2 to power

Using the charging base

Place Move 2 on the charging base with charging contacts aligned and touching.

Make sure your Move 2 is completely dry and free of debris on the charging contacts before placing it on the charging base. The charging base is designed for indoor use only.

Move 2’s battery takes about three hours to fully charge while using the charging base.

Using a USB-C cable

Move 2’s USB-C port is located on the back of the speaker above the charging contacts. When charging, ensure that the USB-C cable is fully inserted into your Move 2 and your power source.

You can use any USB-C PD cable to charge Move 2.

Check Move 2’s battery level

To view Move 2’s battery level, open the Sonos app and find your Move 2 in the System tab. The battery's charge level is displayed as a percentage next to the battery icon.

A is added to the battery indicator when Move 2 is connected to power to show that it is charging.

Move 2’s battery light

The battery light on the front of your Move 2 will flash orange when it’s low on battery (6% charge or less).

When connected to power, Move 2 will display a solid orange light to indicate that it’s charging. After about 10 seconds, the light will turn off but Move 2 will continue to charge.

If the battery is depleted or has a very low charge, the orange light will stay on longer than 10 seconds until Move 2 has enough charge to turn on. This charging time may vary based on the power adapter that Move 2 is using and how depleted the battery is. Once the battery light turns off, Move 2 may still require additional charging before it can be used on battery power.

Battery life and cycle count

Move 2’s 44 Wh battery provides up to 24 hours of continuous playback on a single charge. Pausing, volume level, Bluetooth, heat exposure, and other factors will cause battery life to fluctuate.

The battery lifespan is about three years or 900 charges, after which you can purchase a replacement battery. Leaving Move 2 on the charging dock long-term will not reduce the battery’s lifespan.
