Mac keyboard media buttons can't control Sonos

The Sonos app for macOS lets you use the media buttons on your Mac’s keyboard to start, stop, and skip tracks on Sonos. If the media buttons aren’t controlling Sonos when the app is open, the app likely needs to be granted extra permissions before the media buttons will work. Follow the steps below to grant the Sonos app the permissions it needs.

  1. Open your Mac's System Preferences and go to Security & Privacy.
  2. Click the Privacy tab.
  3. Select Accessibility, and make sure Sonos is allowed. If Sonos is not listed, click the + to add it.
  4. Open the Sonos app and select Sonos > Quit Sonos in the upper left corner of the screen, and then re-open the Sonos app.
  5. Use the media buttons to control your Sonos system.

Please note that you may need to click on the lock icon in the bottom left corner of the System Preferences window and enter your password before you can make any changes.
