Configuring multiple Araknis switches with Sonos products
When Sonos products are connected to multiple Araknis switches, the switches need to be configured to maintain wired connections between them.
It is strongly recommended to contact the installer responsible for your network before making any changes to a managed switch.
Configure your primary switch
On your primary switch:
- Locate the Bridge Priority setting.
- Set it to a value lower than the default 32768, such as 4096. This makes your primary switch the root bridge in your network.
Configure each additional switch
On each additional switch connected to your primary switch:
- Locate the Path Cost setting. It might also be labeled as "Port Cost" or "CST Cost."
- Find the uplink port, which is the port that connects toward your primary switch.
- Set the cost on this uplink port to 10. This tells the switches to prefer the path toward your primary switch, which prevents Sonos from disabling the wired connection.
- When you apply the change, the port will briefly change state before settling into Forwarding status.
Verify the configuration
After applying the changes, check your switches' STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) status page:
- On your first additional switch, the Root Path Cost should display as 10.
- On the next switch in the chain, it should display as 20 (two hops × 10 per hop).
- Each subsequent switch follows this pattern.
- All ports should display as Forwarding.
After verifying these settings, your Sonos products should maintain their wired connections across all switches. If you're still having trouble, contact Sonos Support for further help.
