Set up your Sonos Playbar

This article will help you get started with setting up your Sonos Playbar. You can find more information on product features and specs in Playbar's product guide.

Before you start

  • Place your Playbar in your desired location and connect it to power. Make sure the Playbar is in the correct orientation if you’re mounting it on your wall.
  • Connect the supplied optical audio cable from the digital audio out (optical) port of your TV to the audio input on the Playbar.
  • Download the Sonos app for iOS or Android. The app will guide you through the set up process. Playbar will need to be set up using the Sonos app before it can play TV audio.

Set up a new Sonos system with Playbar

  1. Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
  2. Tap Set up a new system, then create or sign in to your Sonos account.
  3. Tap Add on the popup showing your Sonos product. If using the Sonos S1 Controller, tap Continue > Set up products.
  4. Follow the steps in the app to set up your Playbar and add your music services.

Add Playbar to your existing system

  1. Open the Sonos app for iOS or Android.
  2. From the  Settings tab, tap System > Add Product.
  3. Follow the steps in the app to connect Playbar to your Sonos system.

Once Playbar is connected, the app will walk you through connecting your TV remote to Sonos, as well as adding surround speakers and a Sub or Sub Mini.
