Charging Sonos Move

This article provides information on how to charge Sonos Move with the charging base and 3rd party USB-C cables.

When Move is placed on the charger or plugged in to power, the LED on the front will show a solid orange light to show that it has started charging. After about 10 seconds, the light will turn off but Move will continue charging.

Check Move’s battery level

To view Move's battery level, open the Sonos app and find your Move's name in the  System tab (Rooms tab if using the S1 Controller app).

Using the charging base

Place Move on the charging base with charging contacts aligned and touching. Make sure your Move is completely dry and free of debris on the charging contacts before placing it on the charging base. The charging base is designed for indoor use only.

Move's battery fully charges in about two hours while using the Charging Base.

Using a USB-C PD charger

Move's USB-C port is located on the back of the speaker above the charging contacts. Ensure that the USB-C cable is fully inserted into your Move and power source. The power adapter must be a USB-C PD charger, outputting a minimum of 45W (20V/2.25A or 15V/3A). You may also use a 36 watt charger that outputs at least 12V/3A or 15V/2.4A, but the charging speed will be reduced.

Battery Life

Move's battery lasts for up to 11 hours of uninterrupted playback. Pausing, volume level, Bluetooth, heat exposure, and other factors will cause battery life to fluctuate. If left off the charging base and idle, the battery can last up to 120 hours.

Battery Lifespan (cycle count)

The battery lifespan is about three years or 900 charges, after which you can purchase a replacement battery. Leaving Move on the charging dock long-term will not reduce the battery’s lifespan.
